MINUTES FOR SNOW GENERAL MEETING, 2/18/2003 Facilitating: Rad Cunningham and Mary Hanson a.. Welcome and introduction of new meeting attendees. b.. Stories of 2/15. We were inspired by, among other things: children, prayer, creative signs, connections with new people from across the state, connections to old friends whom we encountered through the day and by a Toyota. c.. SNOW Points of Agreement were reviewed. d.. Coordinating Committee Report was given by Ellen Finklestein (see details on the CC meeting minutes posted on the website): a.. Work on a new SNOW leaflet has commenced. b.. We have more clearly defined membership categories and the responsibilities of each. c.. Clear definition of privileges of each category is in progress. d.. Final report on membership categories will be posted on the website. e.. The CC endorsed the Phinney Children’s Parade last week and the upcoming Paul Loeb lecture on March 1 at St. Mark’s on Capitol Hill. f.. We have about $9000 in our account, $4000 of which is earmarked for office staff. g.. We are looking to SNOW for perspective on next steps (more on this below). 5. Neighborhood Reports were given. Much activity throughout the city (as well as a meeting with legislators in D.C.) such as bandaids with names of legislators created for 2/15 (and beyond), much other activity to support 2/15, neighborhood canvassing, video series, Lysistrata productions and readings, presentations by David Berrian (and others) back from Iraq….and MUCH MORE. 6. "Just Do It’s" (JDI’s) – actions which we all can take, on our own were shared as time permitted. Some that were mentioned are: Decorating landmarks this week- end (non permanently) with "No Iraq War" signs or other creative signage (contact snowcoalition.org/landmarks for more information), donating money to KBCS for their broad perspective coverage of news and letting KUOW and KPLU know that you have given there rather than to their stations, picketing Republican Headquarters, finding out more about how to connect the war with cutbacks in social programs at home. 7. Spring Snow Storm - Ellen Bovarnick gave the outline of the SNOW CC campaign to support neighborhood peace Activities and to create a more powerful voice against the war in the next 45 days. (See full Text of this "Spring Snow Storm" elsewhere on the website.) a.. Small groups discussed ideas, preferences for next actions b.. Report backs were requested over email to the Coordinating Committee c..
