Minutes of the SNOW Coordinating Committee

Date: Monday, February 9, 2004

Attendees: In attendance were Mike Yarrow, Ruth Yarrow, Ric Power, Mary Johnson, Tom Barnard (organizer), Elizabeth Brant, John Stoltzfus, Linda York and Shannon Turner-Covell (treasurer).

Minutes

The minutes of the CC Meeting on Jan. 26 were unanimously approved.

Treasurers Report

Shannon gave the financial report. Also, she had been asked by a Neighborhood Group if they could open a bank account using the main SNOW account. All agreed that this would cause accounting and legal problems. If a group wishes to open an account, Ric can give them the instructions. Contact him at peacemakerpress@yahoo.com.

Peace Concert Report

We made $2500! The concert was a great success - many of us who attended were very impressed with the music. It was decided that Ruth would send a thank you note to Tom Harriman from the CC.

March 20 Event

The next meeting will be 2/10 at 5:30pm at University Friends. Since splitting off from the original planning group (which included ANSWER and NION), new ideas were discussed. One possible event will be a Memorial Service followed by a march from the 1st Methodist Church (downtown at 5th and Marion) to Pier 62. Other ideas include workshops and speakers. The importance of having NG actions, in addition to a large event, was also discussed. If you have other ideas, email Tom at organizer@snowcoalition.org.

Stan Goff, Feb. 21

The location has been changed to the New Hope Baptist Church at 124 21st Ave. Alexander Cockburn will introduce Stan. Tom asked that we promote this as much as we can.

Webmaster

Mike, John Bito and Ric will talk with Spencer about working on the website as requested - he's working a temporary job right now.

Caucus Reports

We took a few minutes to share our experiences: "disorganized, noisy, packed, not enough chairs, tables were a waste of time." But well worth it! Most resolutions were passed.

Next SNOW General Meeting

The next general meeting will be at University Friends, 9th Ave. and 40th.

Agenda:

Linda York and Gunnel Clark will be facilitating.

Organizer Report

Tom presented a report titled "Challenges to the survival of SNOW", parts I and II. Due to lack of time, we discussed the report briefly. It is a very thorough report and includes some good questions and observations about our very unique organization. It was agreed that we would discuss this more at our next CC meeting.
