Commitment to Webmaster:
When we hired Spencer we committed to 3 months because that was the money we had in hand. Brenda Collier, SNOW's treasurer, reported that we have a balance of approximately $26,000 as of the end of June. Spencer has been on salary with the expectation that he would work approximately 25 hours a week. He reported working between 15 and 40 hours. He is redesigning some of the site and expects to work up to 40 hours a week for the next few weeks and that during later July and early August it may be down to 15 hours. He will report to the cc on workload and on other web and lists issues.
The CC voted unanimously to extend our commitment to Spencer to be SNOW's webmaster until Oct 31, 2003.
Media Committee:
David Ward reported that the committee had not met recently.
David was urged to follow up on the progress of the design of a SNOW logo. The media committee was also asked to make a proposal to the cc on the process for having designated spokespeople for SNOW get informed about developments and be notified about media requests. There needs to be close communication between the media committee, the cc and the office. Also the media committee was urged to consider and communicate ideas for messages we might agree to communicate as an organization.
Ellen Bovarnick, Will Rose and Ellen Finkelstein were suggested as interim spokespeople for SNOW.
Process of Dropping People from SNOW Lists:
- Webmaster will generally warn people about communications which violate the rules before dropping them from the list.
- If the webmaster considers a communication an extreme violation of the rules of the list, he can drop someone without a warning.
- The webmaster will communicate the dropping to the individual privately, not to the whole list.
- Reinstatement to a list can be worked out between the individual and the webmaster.
- Spencer will try to negotiate reinstatement with Paul Richmond.
Hiring Committee:
Mike Y reported that 15 of the original applicants have replied that they are still interested in the SNOW organizer job. Three are no longer interested and so far we have received two new applications. The reconstituted committee will include Jay Gerring, Rick Power and Ellen Bovarnick.
Minutes:
We agreed not to included names of people criticized during CC meetings.
Process for Adopting Minutes:
- Minute taker will forward a draft of minutes to cc via e-mail by the Saturday following the cc meeting.
- Suggested corrections are to be sent by the next cc meeting.
- Minutes will be approved with or without corrections at the next cc meeting.
- The minute taker will then forward them to the webmaster for posting on the website.
This proposal carried by a 6 in favor and 1 opposed vote.
Process for Posting on SNOW Bulletin:
After a protracted discussion the following proposal was passed by a 6 to 1 vote.
- The Bulletin Moderator will review submissions by SNOW member groups for adherence to SNOW points of agreement and post.
- If the moderator deems an event questionable, he/she will inform the cc and communicate with the group involved.
- Neighborhood liaisons should inform the moderator if they have questions about events which groups may be proposing for the bulletin.
- Events announced in the Bulletin which are not endorsed by SNOW cc or membership will so indicate at the bottom of the listing.
Link Policy:
The webmaster will make a proposal about a link policy for the SNOW website.
In the meantime we will communicate to Progressive Majority that we will not link with them at this time.
Volunteer for Peacekeeper Trainings:
Ruth Yarrow will follow up with the man who has offered to do trainings.
Seafest Protest:
The cc was reassured that the protest to Navy ships coming to Seafest will be nonviolent and voted to endorse it.
NEXT GENERAL MEETING: July 21, 7 pm. Ann will look for a location.
NEXT CC MEETING: July 14, 7 p 70th and Greenwood
