01) Bert announced a legal hearing for his lawsuit against the U.S. Treasury Dept. over sanctions on Iraq: Thursday, Oct. 21 in the new federal courthouse, 700 Stewart St. Supporters invited to join at 9:30am on the front steps. Photo I.D. required to enter. www.concernforiraq.org for more info. ACTION; a) event will be posted on SNOW Announce… b) C.C. members and hangers-on will announce to their respective groups.
02) Bert announced that the "Citizens Committee for Responsible Journalism" is soliciting participants. ACTION; Bert will provide info to go out on SNOW Announce and other SNOW lists at a later date.
03) Iraq flyers – 6 in pipeline so far with 4 produced. Suggestions to work on distribution, not just production, to create an electronic version with cues as to paper color, to number each flyer version. Donations requested for large disbursements of flyers.
04) Upcoming events:
a. Oct. 28 "Against the War in Iraq and the War at Home" rally and march, 6:00pm at Seattle Central C.C. - contact Dustin Washington (206) 632-0500 x14, dwashington@afsc.org. ACTION; Ellen will see that SNOW lists are activated to promote this event. Marcia will be asked to include it on SNOW Announce.
b. Nov. 5 banner and flyer activities in neighborhood centers, with some bannering on overpasses. ACTION; Announce soon (prior to Oct. 25 general meeting) to SNOW lists and other SNOW groups. Ruth will be asked for any updated group contact info.
c. Nov. 6 Nion sponsored event at Westlake re/No War, No Attacks on Immigrants. Also endorsed by ANSWER and Vets for Peace. ACTION; Ellen will talk to Margot about what they want from SNOW. Marcia will announce in bulletin.
d. Nov. 3 "No Stolen Elections" possible event at Westlake. Contact Bob Barnes. ACTION; Marcia will announce in bulletin.
05) Mentioned; we need to get a SNOW speakers list together so we can respond to requests.
06) Holiday greeting cards are available.. a new and improved price list is being worked up.
07) The M.A.P. training event is happening Nov. 13 in West Seattle. Training will be from 9:00am until 4:00pm with tea and coffee provided. 40 slots total, 20 still available. ACTION; John Rep will get info to SNOW Announce
18) Jessica Anderson offers to speak on Palestine and Iraq. ACTION; Elizabeth will contact her.
19) Backbone campaign wants to attend C.C. meetings. ACTION; Elizabeth will invite a representative to attend in a non-voting capacity.
20) Ellsberg event fallout: Marcia has responded to all who emailed with complaints, etc.(about 20). 15 thought no apology necessary 5 thought we went overboard in a pro-Nader direction with the Camejo announcement. No further follow-up planned.
21) Addition of Palestine statement to Mission or bylaws? ACTION; It will appear on our next agenda and John S., Peggy and Steve L. will work on a proposal.
22) Rolling Thunder has invited SNOW to help put on an event in January. ACTION; Ellen will talk with Mike to find out details and desires.
23) Jobs with Justice steering committee and liaison vacancy (formerly filled by Tom B for SNOW.). ACTION; Steve Ludwig will talk to Jake (447-4969) about taking over the role.
24) Jobs with Justice fundraising event SNOW has reserved a table, and the table is filled (8 chairs). ACTION; John R. will handle money matters.
25) Liaison with other groups, internal and external ACTION; Brenda will talk to Ruth about updated list of groups and contact info. Ellen will continue to keep up with NION for the present.
26) STRUCTURE OF GENERAL MEETING: What we want from our meetings:
