What are the responsibilities of a contact person?
If you're the contact person listed here, you'll likely get emails and phone
calls from people in your area who want to get involved in peace organizing.
Your most important responsibility is to respond to them in a timely way
and help them get involved!
It's also helpful if you're willing to keep your group's event list
and 'update' up to date. The 'update' is the short 2-3 sentences
that you see under some neighborhoods in the list - if you're the contact
person and you have a * by your name, you can write that info
by clicking on 'write update'.
There's an email listserve for coordinating the work of neighborhood groups
- if you're a contact person, it would be a good idea to join that list.
The list address is snow-groups@lists.riseup.net, to join send an email
to snow-groups-subscribe@lists.riseup.net.
Anyone can add events to the event list, though if you are not an
edit-enabled contact person your events will need to be approved
by SNOW staff before posting. If you're organizing an event in your area,
add it to the event listings!
If you want to get an email address @snowcoalition.org
(like ballard@snowcoalition.org) to use for
your group, or set up an email mailing list (where members of your group
can send emails to the whole group by sending to an address like
snow-lakeforestpark@lists.riseup.net, and members can individually choose
to subscribe or unsubscribe themselves from the list), or if your group
would like space on our website (you'll need to build your own pages,
we can just offer you hosting for it),
contact us and we'll get
it set up for you.
How do I find out what events are happening in my neighborhood?
Just click on the name of the neighborhood group or organization and you'll
be taken to their event listing.
My area isn't listed!
If you're willing to be a contact in your neighborhood, go right ahead and
add your info to the list. If you're
not ready to do that, but you know somebody in your area who might be (or who
already is acting as contact but isn't on this list), ask them to come to
the site and add their info so people can find your group!
If you are an independent organization that predates SNOW, you need
to join SNOW and affirm the Points of Agreement before being listed on this
page. Please contact
join@snowcoalition.org to become
a member of the SNOW coalition.
How do I modify or delete a contact person's info?
To change or delete the info for a listed contact person, click on their name
(you will need to know the password for that contact in order to modify it).
What do the asterisks mean?
Contacts listed with a * before their names are able to modify the informational
blurb for that neighborhood - email them if you'd like to see something mentioned
that isn't. If they don't respond, or if there isn't anyone in your neighborhood
with a * by their name, email us
and we'll enable you to update your neighborhood's info.
What about interest or working groups?
This is also the place to list contacts for working groups centered around a
common interest or identity (ie veterans, artists, students), not necessarily
geographical location. If you'd like to start
up a peace group around some common identity, just
add yourself and use the area of interest as the
"neighborhood name."
