Spring SNOW StormSNOW Coordinating Committee Proposal to Feb 18 2003 General MeetingNote: this is a draft planning document, which has led to plans for a Spring SNOWStorm event on April 5, 2003.WHAT: A campaign to support the neighborhood peace movement and create an even more powerful voice against war with Iraq and for peace. WHEN: The next 45 days WHY: The next 45 days are critical to stop the war and to build on SNOW's considerable momentum. WHERE: Throughout the Puget Sound region WHO: SNOW member organizations, neighborhood groups, identity groups and relevant coalition partners HOW: The campaign will be implemented in four arenas as follows, each targeted to build the SNOW community and stop the war. The four focuses are: I. A big event and/or SNOW gathering at a large venue(such as Safeco Field, Key Arena, Seahawk Stadium, Hec Ed Pavilion, Meydenbauer Center depending on fees and availability). The event will meet the following criteria: A. Be done 3/31/03 (or sooner) B. Be fiscally sound (raise funds) C. Increase number of SNOW members (through neighborhood groups) D. Support existing members E. Will have a clear, coherent message II. CD/Direct ActionA. Designed to draw a minimum of 50 disobediants B. CD Committee will finalize proposal for members and CC C. Action will take place within next 45 days D. demonstrate depth of SNOW’s commitment to stopping the war in a thoughtful and considered manner III. Hire a neighborhood group organizer.A. CC will develop job description for organizer who will focus on bolstering existing neighborhood groups and help new groups come together. B. SNOW organizational members will contribute funds C. Neighborhood groups will be asked as well D. CC will seek donor/grant IV. Support various actionsA. supply publicity, endorsement, attendance B. as approved by membership and CC C. tax resistance D. vets actions E. family of service personnel (immediate and extended) F. boycotts (as determined by proposals approved by SNOW CC & membership)
